Trying to find the right line for fishing is imperative to the outcome.

Avoid cheap and trashy lines with there wire like feel and poor knotting but don’t just think you must spend a fortune.

A years supply of excellent mainline from boatfishingtackle or penn and at least a dozen more of great brands can be had for less than £20 if you buy a bulk spool.

Technically most lines are on par for knotting and durability. Some feel different in action especially when flowing from a spool. Multiplier casters generally prefer a hint of lift so the coils escape cleanly but resist bunching. Some fixed spool addicts choose springy lines.

While others say that a softer or dead flow is better You decide the big factor is diameter regardless of reel type. The standard size for clean ground fishing is 0.35mm headed by a shock leader. Heavy duty fishing in the rocks call for 0.45mm and above.
